    Notes Upper reaches of main dam with extensive stands of emergent Persicarea - some birds could have been missed in these; and, some sections of shoreline were obscured by these. With the level of the dam quite high, and the boat used a semi-rigid inflatable, I was able to go up the river section and cover the whole area originally included in the early surveys. Calm most of the time, rough towards end. Unfortunately, could not waste time trying to sort out the waders (probably mostly Ruff and Curlew Sandpipers). Black-winged Pratincoles in flocks along the shore, and not easy to count. Count took c.1 hr longer than it should have because outboard cut out about three-quarters of the way, and I battled to get it going again. Species sheet Notes
