Notes The count started probably 1 1/2 to 2 hours too late to get the waders. Mel Trip who stayed over night in the cottages in Berg 4 saw thousands come into De Plaat on the evening tide and expected me to have difficulty with a large count. On the 26/02 (thursday) I had some Australian Birders and too them to De Plaat at 1030hrs specifically to get the area as the water cleared. There were thousands of waders present and probablly 9000 water birds. The WCBC will be trying to determine the best time for De Plaat by doing hourly counts over a tide.
