    Notes The weather was cool (almost cold when the wind blew) and overcast. This pan was very different to last summer when the heronry was full of Egrets breeding whereas this year there were no birds that were breeding. The Herons in the big Blue Gum tree were also fewer than last summer or the winter count. The Johannesburg region had a very we summer this year which may suggest that the herons had more choice in terms of breeding site but this would not account for this pan to have no birds breeding.
