Notes Cool and overcast. The pan had lots of water in it although not more than previous summers. Johannesburg has had a lot of rain this year which may account for the low bird count on the pan this year compared to summer 2009. The grass was thick around the edges of the pan making it difficult to count birds once they landed. We are certain that we have under-counted as a result. There is also a lot of development taking place around the Western and Northern side of the Pan.
