Notes There was a light squall shower for 5 minutes from the north west. The clouds were breaking up allowing sunlight through. The southern Marina channels (south of Park Island bridge) were not counted. The Coot were not in the usual numbers regularly seen. In the yacht basin a family were feeding a group of mallard, mallard hybrid, domestic duck and egyptain geese. 2 photos are attached. A rainbow appeared when counting which gives an indication of the sky at about 10h45. Greather and Lesser (full breeding plumage) Flamingo were present in the "narrows" (area west of Thesens bridge). Also Avocet present. There were larger numbers present eariler when Lee Vesty drove past. We found a dead young Cape Cormorant in the gutter of the Royal Road bridge. There was a good outflowat the mouth as it was low tide. The silting up of the area from the weir to beyond the second corner is evident. The sand banks are becoming more exposed, which in past years were not as evident.
