    Notes The richness of the lake can be ascribed to a number of factors: the drying-down condition of the lake which concentrates food and nutrients, the dry conditions in the region forcing the birds to move into taking refuge in St Lucia and we believe there are large populations of tilapia providing an abundance of fish for the fish-feeders The waders are migrants and this is the peak of the period when they are in South Africa.
