    Notes Unable to get a key for one of the gates on the W side, beyond which I would probably have gotten stuck in the 4x2 bakkie (I requested a 4x4) I was given for the trip. Walked much of this section (S end of the main dam); then covered much of the upper reaches from the W side, followed by the N section Caledonia on the E side, but where I was unable to cover the rest because the track through the grassland was flooded (and where I got stuck). Reeds and willows continue to encroach into the sections of the dam away from the main channel.
