    Notes This count is conducted by Holger Kolberg on the Namibian side of the Orange River, from where it is easier to count than from the South Africa side, due to less riparian vegetation. This count used to be done by boat, but due to the consistently low level of water in the Orange, it has no longer been possible to do counts by boat. During this particular count the river was in full flood, making it impossible to use a boat as well. From the section Hohenfels to the Powerline, the river had pushed through the riparian vegetation onto old floodplains, were most birds were seen. From the Powerline to the Bridge section there was no available roosting or feeding habitat due to high river level.
