    Notes There'd been quite a bit of rain overnight and early morning but it cleared up for the count …. The golf course was quite wet under foot but viewing conditions were good. We had 4 new counters on our team, Linda Stephens, Linda de Kock, Marié Joubert and Jane van den Heever. None of them had been to Arabella before so they were quite blown away by the estate and the exercise as a whole. The bird numbers, and more so the variety of species, were pretty disappointing but nonetheless, it was an enjoyable count. After our count we went to the Rooisand Hide - the 4 new ladies hadn't been there either - and we had good sightings of a number of the duck species, Spoonbills, etc but it was very windy and cold in the hide so after our bite to eat we made our way back to the cars and headed home ... these species weren't counted as this wasn't out section
