    Notes The weather was fine,clear with only a light breeze. The southern part of the pan, south of Middlepunt farm was dry. The Old Salt Pan was also counted and the figures are included. It was a very good count and with the number of birds present, I am going to speak to Dale Wright of Birdlife Western Cape with a view to looking at having Voelvlei declared an IBA. I also want him to speak to Eskom, as it looked as if there were 2 dead flamingos in the water near where the power lines cross the pan opposite Middlepunt farm. I feel bird flappers or balls need to be installed on that section of the line.
