There are various disturbances: Race coarse, oil factory, traffic flow. The past rains have filled it up, and a variety of species have appeared. A population of Pelicans and Flamingos were observed at the Central Vlei. Certain individuals of the Flamingo population were pink, which meant that there they could possibly be feeding on Shrimp or Blue-Green Algae.
