    Notes Thick low-lying mist rolling in over the lagoon made counting conditions very difficult. The odd thinning of the mist allowed us to cover approximately 30% of the water until the sun eventually broke through towards the end of the count. The misty conditions were quite eerie making parts of the count feel like we were on a moon crater and depth perception through our binoculars was totally out of kilter with Kittlitz's Plovers looking like large waders and Avocets looking like Herons at times. A lot of doubling back to make sure we were identifying the species correctly.
