Notes A new sewer pipeline has been installed along the western side of the pan and a large area of grassland and wetland was excavated and graded in the process. Effluent is being directed into the pan in this area via and large pipe. Part of the grassy catchment has been converted to a solar farm. Water Hyacinth is growing in the shallows on the eastern and southern side of the pan. This seems to be a newly introduced alien weed and is expected to proliferate under the highly eutrophic conditions. Artisanal miners are still active in the pan catchment. A fishing camp has been established on the eastern shore.
