    Notes Count focused on the eastern shore from the reserve entrance at Welgedacht Road to the dry dam beyond the education centre (-26.225S; 28.486E). There were several small patches of open water where hyacinth clearing was in progress but the site is otherwise covered in hyacinth and reeds. The western shore of the wetland is not accessible due to fences, urban development and tall reeds. Artisanal miners (zama zamas) are active in the tailings dams adjacent to the site and security is a concern.
