    Notes Saltpans not operational since Jan 2017 due to ongoing theft at pumps. Pans slowly dried out. Overall pans c30% full after heavy rain 2 June 2024. Some salt left in sediments. Freshwater vlei by rail: 95% full. Main saltpans 20-30% full. Pan by river dry & becoming covered in dense saltmarsh. Count by vehicle and foot.
