    Notes Two late summer counts were conducted. The count of Rietvlei Dam on 11 March by reserve staff was done from a boat. The count on 12 March by GDEnv staff was done on foot and from a vehicle. Accessing a boat for counts is proving increasingly difficult and future counts may be on foot and from a vehicle. These two back-to-back counts provide only a coarse indication of how coverage and numbers could differ using the two techniques as the counters were different and heavy rain fell in the catchment of the dam between the counts.
