    Notes The count area is basically dry. There were a couple of muddy pools in the Steenkoolspruit and the one surviving farm dam was 1/2 full. About 50% of the count area has been fenced off and the topsoil removed for opencast mining, including the vlei where the birds bred and southern 1/2 of the central pan. This will most certainly be the last count.
