Deep water channel down the centre of the creek with extensive sand flats particularly on the inland side of the creek; the whole creek is surrounded by mangrove forest. The mouth of the creek is only c.500m wide and is just inside the Watamu Marine
Mida Creek is flooded twice a day by the tide through the mouth. There are no streams or freshwater channels entering the creek. However there is significant underground seepage of freshwater from Arabuko-Sokoke Forest to the west which reduces the e
The mangrove forests have a very high productivity level and the creek is important as a breeding site for fish as well as feeding area for juvenile sea turtles (mainly Green Turtle). It is an Important Bird Area particularly for Lesser Sand Plovers
