Brief_description |
The wetland is a permanent waterbody which was previously a natural pan. Access to 100% of the shoreline and visibility of all the open water with Phragmites reeds in the centre. Typha capensis is also present. The extent of the open water is approximately 20%. Rehabilitation of the wetland commenced in 2019. Phragmites is gradually being thinned out. The are wattles on the property but they are not encroaching on the wetland. Some Salix babylonica trees. Stinkwood trees have been planted where alien trees have been removed. Threats include occasional influx of poor quality storm water which is treated. Some litter does enter the wetland as the screens are not totally effective. Access is fully controlled. |

Cape Wagtail, Yellow-billed Duck, White-faced Whistling Duck, Little Grebe, Red-knobbed Coot, Cape Shoveler, Common Moorhen, African Crake, Mallard and Black-crowned Night Heron have bred at the wetland over the past two years. |
