| Brief_description |
| A reed pan of 25 ha, more than 95% of its area covered by dense, emergent Phragmites; it has a narrow peripheral ring of open water with dense submergents. Only one count available (February 1992), recording few birds of 14 species. A count in August 1985 (D.G. Allan) totalled 111 birds of 15 species, including 12 Purple Gallinule, 18 Moorhen, 21 Redknobbed Coot and 2 African Marsh Harrier. The reedbed has held hundreds of roosting Eastern Redfooted Kestrels. This site should be counted regularly. A small stream arises close to the northeast edge of the pan; if this erodes back it could drain the entire basin. No other threats have been identified. |
