| Brief_description |
| Two dams and a dam/pan with open shoreline, some shorebird habitat, and almost no fringing vegetation, adjacent to Danielskuil. Formerly, the dam/pan received water from local sewage works. Counts are available for 1996 and 1997, when mainly small numbers of 17 species were recorded, 16 species in summer (only South African Shelduck being missing) and only 3 in winter (SA Shelduck, Threebanded Plover and Cape Wagtail). The most numerous birds in summer were Whitefaced Duck, Blacksmith Plover (a good count of 47 birds in 1997), Curlew Sandpiper and Little Stint. Pollution by sewage and domestic refuse is an important threat; mild threats are fishing, and overhead powerlines. |
