| Brief_description |
| The open estuary of the Tugela River; it has sand beaches, and little natural fringing vegetation because of the encroachment of sugar cane. Only 3 summer counts are available, reflecting small numbers of shorebirds and Sandwich Tern, but large numbers of Common Tern and the second highest total of Little Tern recorded during the survey period. Threats include siltation, organic pollution, agricultural encroachment, and disturbance from recreational activities, including ski boats and four-wheel-drive vehicles. |
